ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR

ANN VOVES

Ann has been a member of the Club for the last 19 years. She is the proud mother of Ryan and Anthony and lives in Gig Harbor with Jon Gamble.  She is an accomplished business woman, as the Managing Partner of Artondale Holdings, LLC, the founding owner of Nuvo Designs and is currently the Director of Business Development at Trofholz Technology.  Ann's passion for service is evidenced through the many projects she has Chaired and where she continues to serve, including Camp Goodtimes, EFN repacks, Salvation Army Bellringing and Salvation Army quarterly cleaning baskets.  You will often see her at other community events lending her personal support to a wide variety of community non profits. She is a Paul Harris Fellow and Art Wickens Fellow. She participated in the Rotary #8 trip to India in 2015.  She currently serves on the Projects Committee, Scholarship Committee and Fellowship Committee.  She also chaired the Rotary Auction in 2003.  According to her nomination "Ann lives the Four Way Test in her personal, business and rotary lives. She is always willing to assist our club and individuals whenever they need help." Please join us this week to honor a great Rotarian and to learn more about this amazing woman.

SPRING FIRESIDES ON MAY 22

It's that time again to gather together in the home of a member to enjoy conversation and fellowship. We are so fortunate to have wonderful Rotarians who open their homes and dozens of us who sign up to get to know one another in a warm and comfortable environment. Sign up sheets will be on the tables this Thursday, but we have a quick turn around, because the date is fast approaching.  If you are willing to be a host and won't be at the meeting please let the office know or email Maria Harlow, the Queen of Firesides.  President Mark is working on a stimulating discussion topic.

Poker or Dinner With the Presidents??

May 19 Gil Quante and Jim Whitacre will be hosting 10 folks for a night of fun with poker and refreshments and it's just $50 for each participant.   There are still a couple of spots left.
There are also 5 spots left for the Mount Rushmore Dinner with the Presidents to be held on September 8 at Fred's Berry Farm in Puyallup.  Enjoy the strawberry infused farm to table menu.  The price for this event is $125 per person.  Please contact the office if you want to join in either of these activities!

We hope to announce some preliminary numbers at the meeting this week.  It was an amazing event and the proceeds will ripple throughout our local and global communities and touch thousands of lives.

Literacy Committee Needs Your Help!

The books for Reach Out & Read medical clinics have arrived. Approximately 12,000 books are sitting at KBTC, eagerly awaiting their "donated by Rotary 8" stickers. We have a lot of work to do, before we can get the books in the hands of little readers. Mark your calendars for a sticker party!

UPCOMING RELATIONSHIP BUILDING SOCIALS

The Fellowship/Relationship Building Committee invites all members of Tacoma #8 to join them on Thursdays at 5 pm. These socials are a great way to meet some new Rotarians or catch up with old friends. Pandakas, these meetings will fulfill your "social" requirement prior to graduation and, for all members, it’s fun.
