Chaos and Protest in Hong Kong:  a historic perspective and how is America involved

Elaine Chan, a native from Hong Kong, has researched on Asia's Labor Market as a grant recipient from the International Labor Organization and the World Bank. Her Dissertation was on export-led growth of the Four Asian Tigers (Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, and Taiwan) and its implication for China. Upon receiving a Ph.D in Economics Development at Cornell Universities in 1988, she had worked at the World Bank on China's industrialization. as well as the progress of poverty and income inequality.   She has also worked at General Motors as an International Economist analyzing capital investment in China and Asia.

Joining Elaine will be Seth Kaplowitz.  Seth has lived and worked in Hong Kong and Shanghai, and was a visiting professor at Wuhan University, Wuhan, China. He is an attorney and former real estate executive with an extensive background in real estate development and construction. He began teaching at Fowler College of Business at San Diego State University shortly after his return from Asia in 2010 where he was developing real estate in Hong Kong, Shanghai, China, and Phuket, Thailand. He recently relocated to Tacoma.
