Michele Johnson, PhD
Pierce College

Michele Johnson, Ph.D. has 45 years of teaching and leadership as a faculty member, president of Pierce College Fort Steilacoom, and is currently the chancellor/CEO of Pierce College District, a position she has held for 17 years.

Under her tenure, Pierce College has been selected twice as a Top 10 finalist by the Aspen Institute for their $1 million Excellence in Community College award. Dr. Johnson will share the vision of the college with Tacoma Rotary #8 some of which include continuing the excellent work that has earned accolades for supporting student success, doubling graduation rates, expanding facilities at Fort Steilacoom and Puyallup, and innovative programs for veterans and diverse communities including Joint Base Lewis-McChord. She has championed a relentless pursuit to eliminate areas of inequities and to build an anti-racist institution.

She is a fellow Tacoma #8 Rotarian and has announced her retirement at the end of 2022. Perhaps she'll share a little of her vision for her future self as well.
