Servant Leadership in Economic Development

Maddie Merton is the Vice President of Business Retention & Expansion for the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County (EDB). Maddie manages the EDB’s relationships with existing primary businesses delivering solutions to help them grow and succeed. She meets with an annual portfolio of 200 companies ranging from small, mid-sized, and large across multiple industry sectors. Her work includes navigating federal, state and Maddie is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma – Economic Development Institute (EDI). She also earned her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Human Resources Management with a Minor in Finance & Economics from Eastern Washington University. Maddie and her husband Marvin and their Yorkshire terrier reside in South Hill, Washington.incentives, accessing financing and grant programs, permitting and regulatory assistance, connections to workforce development resources, and management consulting. Maddie has over 15 years of experience in economic development, workforce development, and business development.
