Tacoma Rotary #8 is on a mission to help patients in need by hosting a BloodLink and your support is needed to make it a success! Join us at a local blood drive to support blood donations in our community and across the nation. Hospital patients are counting on us! Florangela Davila is the news director at KNKX Public Radio. She has experience in print, online, TV and radio as a reporter and as an editor for more than two decades. The only child of immigrants from Colombia and Peru, she was born and raised in Los Angeles; graduated from UC Berkeley and the J-School at Columbia University; and was a 2019 fellow in the CPB Public Media Editorial Integrity and Leadership Initiative. She has earned numerous individual and team journalism honors, most recently three regional Murrow awards for KNKX. |

Enjoy sweeping views of Commencement Bay at the annual pool party thrown by Carolyn Weyrick. There will be drinks, appetizers, a grilled fish dinner, pool, hot tub, and lively conversation all around the evening fire with friends. Days for Girls was the recipient of a global grant project for the women and girls in the Kingdom of Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, spearheaded by a team from Snoqualmie. Carol Hendricks will join us to talk about the mission of Days for Girls, the impact of Rotary and other partners, and the expansion of the project to provide handwashing stations to nineteen rural schools. |

Where - Jefferson Park - near the ball fields - 801 Mason Avenue, Tacoma Your Welcome Committee is cooking up hotdogs, hamburgers, vegan burgers, and fun! There's a splash pad for the youngest among us to enjoy and plans for waffle ball, baseball, bocce, three-legged race, water balloons, and more. Michele Johnson, Ph.D. has 45 years of teaching and leadership as a faculty member, president of Pierce College Fort Steilacoom, and is currently the chancellor/CEO of Pierce College District, a position she has held for 17 years. Under her tenure, Pierce College has been selected twice as a Top 10 finalist by the Aspen Institute for their $1 million Excellence in Community College award. Dr. Johnson will share the vision of the college with Tacoma Rotary #8 some of which include continuing the excellent work that has earned accolades for supporting student success, doubling graduation rates, expanding facilities at Fort Steilacoom and Puyallup, and innovative programs for veterans and diverse communities including Joint Base Lewis-McChord. She has championed a relentless pursuit to eliminate areas of inequities and to build an anti-racist institution. She is a fellow Tacoma #8 Rotarian and has announced her retirement at the end of 2022. Perhaps she'll share a little of her vision for her future self as well. |

Washington State Treasurer Mike Pellicciotti: Mike Pellicciotti (pronounced “Pelly-chotty”) was elected Washington State Treasurer in 2020. Before becoming Treasurer, he served two terms in the Washington House of Representatives, representing the 30th Legislative District. Prior to his service in the legislature, Mike was an assistant attorney general who managed a state unit that combatted economic fraud in Washington. |
