It’s official, Rotary 8 members ARE People of Action! Last year 132 members contributed over $102,000 to our club’s annual giving campaign, Project Greater Good (PGG). As a Rotarian, you are among community leaders demonstrating the “Four Way Test” and providing Service Above Self. A donation to  PGG, combined with your volunteer hours on committees and hands-on projects, makes a positive impact on our local and global communities. I hope you will consider a gift this year!
Why do members support of PGG?   "I give to PGG because I want to support the work that the Tacoma Rotary Foundation does in our local community. I also look at my Rotary pin and it says Rotary International so I know my support of the RI Foundation does good work throughout the world. Giving monthly fits my budget too." Past President Jim Henderson “Philanthropy is the desire to promote the welfare of others, by making donations to good causes. Love is a value and top priority. I give out of love and the reality that others need that love and can’t do it alone. Rotary allows me to give locally and globally and to impact health around the world so those without do not have to live a shorter life.” Maria Harlow “Most of my support through PGG goes to the Tacoma Rotary Foundation. My philanthropic giving for most of my adult life has been in support of my community. The money given to the Grants Committee for Tacomans makes a great difference in our community. It allows our nonprofits to expand their outreach and provide services for many needs in our community.” Cynthia Darland
Investments to Project Greater Good (PGG) help support the programs of your choosing. Every year we ask members to participate by giving ANY amount to be considered a PGG donor. Our suggested donation amount is $500 with the distribution as follows:
Tacoma #8 Rotarians make an impact around the world! $150 to Rotary International Foundation (RIF) help support the six areas of focus;  Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Providing Clean Water, Saving Mothers and Children, Supporting Education and Growing Local Economies. Your gift helps with matching grants that last year through our WCS Committee supported clean water with the installation of handwashing and drinking water stations in Bolivia and Ethiopia.

Our club members change lives!  $150 to Tacoma Rotary Foundation (TRF) allows us to provide local grants of almost $85,000 to 19 non-profits. These grants are carefully vetted by our Grants Committee and they helped  provide; :shelter for the abused, food for the hungry through feeding programs after school and during spring break, access to healthcare for our underserved community members including dental care and student mentoring and homework help for youth at risk.

$100 to Rotary 8 Projects and Programs provides support for critical committee work by our fantastic committees like World Community Service, Scholarships, Projects, Rotary Youth Exchange, Literacy Committee, Interact and Grants.
Rotarians will end polio! $100 to Polio Plus will help in the work to eradicate polio. This has been a focus for more than 30 years, and we’ve made incredible progress in the fight to rid the world of it forever. We’ve helped to reduced polio cases by more than 99.9 percent. It’s crucial to eliminate polio from the last three countries where it remains endemic and to keep other countries polio-free. If all eradication efforts stopped today, within 10 years, polio could paralyze as many as 200,000 children each year. $3 will protect a child against polio. .

Yours in Rotary
